The local farmers market.

The climax of our week at Duurzame Growers is pulling up early Saturday morning in the back parking lot of Guelph’s downtown farmers market. Through May to October, we arrive with a truck load of fresh produce to unpack, display, and sell to our Guelph community. Rain or shine, the market runs every Saturday of the year. It’s a delight to grow food for a community that appreciates, respects, and supports local food. Since becoming vendors at market, we are thrilled to now call many of our customers friends, and to know them by name as they stop to pickup their weekly provisions. We are honored to share conversation with our customers where they are given an opportunity to ask β€œHow exactly is this lettuce grown?”, or β€œWhat do the heirloom tomatoes funky names mean?”. We appreciate any question. It’s our passion to offer an alternative way to buy food, one where the hands who sell it are the hands that grew it. Many believe this relationship between grower and consumer is, in part, what makes local food so good. And we agree, because when one has the knowing of how, where, and who grew the food that brings nourishment, one’s food can be fully enjoyed.

For over 195 years, the Guelph Farmers Market has been a hub for local growers, farmers, producers, and makers who offer their goods to residents of Guelph and the surrounding area. The market has a wide array of vendors with a diversity of products to offer. Check out their website if you are planning a visit in the future.
